Falling asleep to it
A sleep timer that cuts the audio dead wakes you up. The whole design problem is ending the sound without ending the sleep, which is why this is a fade and not a switch.
Pick a wind-down
A station or an episode, plus 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes — or end of this episode, which is the honest option when you are listening to something with a shape.
Let it fade
The volume eases down across the final minute instead of stopping at full. You will usually not notice it finish, which is the point.
Use the nightstand
A full-screen LED clock with the station underneath and your next alarm in the corner — readable at arm's length in a dark room, and paired with the alarm that goes with it.
